Below are some of my favorites to teach Nurse Aide. These are just my opinions and the items worked well for my particular classes.
An amplified stethoscope is a must not just for your students who have impaired hearing but it helps ALL students to identify their “first” sounds
This is a blog post all on it’s own but VRSims’s VRNA is the best Virtual Reality program for Nurse Aide training hands down
Reality Works’ Geriatric Simulator helps my students understand the mobility struggles of the geriatric population.
I’ve previewed many Nurse Aide Textbooks and I feel Hartman’s is most comprehensive.
Pocket Nurse is where I order ALL my consumable supplies such as thermometer probe covers, catheter supplies, wash basins, toothbrushes, incontinence supplies, etc.
This is a perfect package to compliment a medical terminology curriculum in a CTE. There’s even a digital supplement called MindTap that provides games and digital challenges for the students.
Not only do I have valuable resources on Teachers Pay Teachers, but other do as well. I have purchased NUMEROUS resources from other teachers to use in my own classroom!
Page protectors with a plain piece of copy paper inserted makes the perfect mini-white boards for your students to answer questions, play game or complete calculations
Laminate, laminate, laminate!!!!! Laminate everything you can possibly reuse: Diet slips, fluid calculation problems, task cards, etc.
Jell-o makes the perfect blood! Make sure you double the amount of water the recipe calls for OR half the amount of water and pour the gelatin into a glove and rubber band the end for fingerstick practice
