What This Activity Covers

- Recording the abnormality term
- Defining each abnormality on a worksheet
This is not just a “find and copy” activity. Students must think, recall, and apply prior knowledge.

What This Activity Includes
The activity includes:
- 48 printable black-and-white eggs, each labeled with a body system abnormality and a number
- Student recording sheets
To prepare, you’ll just need:
- Scissors
- Tape
That’s it. No complicated assembly.
Setup for the Egg Hunt (Quick & Simple)
- Print and cut out the 48 eggs.
- Hide the eggs around the classroom in visible — but not obvious — locations.
- Provide each student with a recording sheet.
Now you’re ready to go.
Three Ways to Use This Activity
One of the things I love most about this resource is that it’s flexible.
You can adjust it depending on your class size, time, and student needs.
Option 1: Individual Egg Hunt Challenge
This is perfect if you want independent accountability.
- Set a time limit (for example, 10 minutes).
- Students search for as many eggs as they can find.
- Each time they find one, they record the abnormality and its number on their sheet.
- After the hunt, students define each abnormality using prior knowledge or classroom resources.
- End with a whole-class review or peer check.
This works beautifully for:
- Quick review days
- Test prep
- Classes that need independent practice
Option 2: Team-Based Egg Hunt Relay
If your group thrives on energy and collaboration, this option is gold.
- Divide students into small groups (2–4 per team).
- One student at a time searches for a single or groups of eggs, records the term(s) and brings the recording sheet back to the group.
- The team works together to define the abnormality.
- The first team to correctly complete all their assigned terms wins (or earns a small reward).
This version encourages:
- Communication
- Teamwork
- Critical thinking
- Friendly competition
It’s especially effective in CNA and PCT programs with large numbers.
