Ever feel like you finish a lesson or clinical shift and wonder, Did they really get it?
That’s where exit tickets come in!
These quick, end-of-class (or end-of-shift) activities are an easy, low-pressure way to check in with your students while reinforcing key skills.
Exit Tickets In the Classroom
Exit tickets are a great way to wrap up the day’s lesson and keep students accountable for what they’ve learned.
Here are a few ways to use them:
✅ Check Understanding – After a lesson on vital signs, students could document a patient’s BP, pulse, and temp using the correct abbreviations.
✅ Bring Back Previous Lessons – A quick question on I&O, infection control, or ADLs helps reinforce older material so it sticks!
✅ Make It Real – Give them a short scenario and ask them to respond as they would in a real-life situation. For example, “Your patient hasn’t eaten much today. What should you do as a CNA?”
Exit Tickets In the Clinical Setting
Exit tickets work just as well at the clinical site!
🩺 End-of-Day Reflections – Have students write a short nurse’s note on what they did that day—did they assist with feeding? Take vs? Help a resident OOB?
🩺 Observation & Documentation Practice – Ask students to write down one change they noticed in a resident and how they responded.
🩺 Professionalism Check-In – Reflection questions like, “How did you advocate for a resident today?” help students think about their role beyond just skills.
